About our Swallow Eucalyptus Top
Eucalyptus Tencel is a new textile that is produced exclusively from the wood pulp of Eucalyptus trees certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC). The wood is reduced into a pulp and then reduced further to extract cellulose, which is then reformed into a soft fibre in spinnerets. This process is benign and closed-loop, which makes this award-winning fibre the most sustainable man-man fibre in the world today.
Lenzing Fibres in Austria developed and manufacture the fibre. The fibres themselves are shipped to Izmir, Turkey and are spun into jersey fabric to be cut and sewn into garments. This factory is OEKO-TEX 100 standard certified and ISO 14001 certified. It is also a member of Fair Wear Foundation, who’s code of labour practises ensure a better deal for workers.
Garments are transported by ship to Trieste, then trucked Plymouth via London. Here they are hand-finished, which creates UK jobs. The finished product is then freighted to, and distributed from, Rapanui HQ on the Isle of Wight.
Award-Winning Traceability
It is impossible to make an ethical choice if you don’t know where clothing comes from and how it is made. Very few people do these days, even high-street stores themselves. At Rapanui you can investigate the whole supply chain and find out the details about where this item was made, who made it, and how it got here, from Seed to shop. It is called traceability.
