Rapanui World Record Paddle for Charity
Ben South. Conservation Biologist, Gig Rower, Kitesurfer and Rapanui Sales Rep. Next to him is Fabian Baker, Jersey Ironman, our photographer and product tester.
After investing in a lifeguard's paddleboard to get them through the summer flat spells, the guys decided to take the kind of inspiration and drive all of us share at Rapanui, and apply it to ... paddleboarding. Not just paddleboarding though, but a paddleboarding world record.
And not just any old record; they aimed to become the first people to paddle from France to Jersey, across the most intense tidal currents on Earth, a gruelling 12hr mission.
We did our best to get them kitted out with the necessary logistics and apparel, and with no training, (Island style!) they did it, and raised £4000 to help charities for disadvantaged children.
We were pretty stoked to be able to get stuck in and raise awareness for a worthy cause.
