Young Brand Leads a Change in Ethical Fashion

An eco fashion brand from the Isle of Wight is leading a change in the fashion industry, offering their customers an unprecedented level of detail, from seed to shop on every product.

Set up in 2008 by brothers Rob and Martin Drake-Knight Rapanui has quickly grown into an award winning brand earning recognition from Enterprise UK’s Enterprising Young Brit awards and the Sustainable Business Awards for their unique approach to sustainability.

Every Rapanui product is made from organic natural fabrics, so your clothes are free from pesticides and artificial fertilisers, in a wind powered factory audited by the Fairwear Foundation. This ensures that every worker gets a fair wage and clean and safe working conditions.

Rapanui have also reduced the carbon footprint on their products by over 80%. Things like shipping products from the factory by boat rather than using carbon heavy airfreight or using camels instead of trucks to transport between the field and the factory has made them the most sustainable brand around.
“Going green isn’t difficult it’s all about looking at things in a new way, and making lots of small changes rather than one big one.” Said director of sustainability Mart Drake-Knight

Their site features a fully interactive map of the entire lifecycle of every product with images, videos and all the facts and figures, letting customers investigate products for themselves to find out where their clothes come from and how they are made.

“We believe it’s not that people don’t care, it’s just they don’t know. We want to educate people so that they can be empowered to make an informed decision as shoppers” Said Co-Founder Rob Drake-Knight
