Bamboo Tee shirts / Leaf Classic T Shirt
People often ask us how our brand started. It's a hard question to answer. We studied a lot about sustainability and felt we needed to do something. Rapanui then just sort of happened.
This design was our first ever t-shirt. The t-shirt itself has been upgraded, the cut improved, the fabric made softer and more breathable. But the message is still the same. Like sustainability, bringing this design back is an old idea, but Rapanui is sustainable fashion’s new leaf.
This Bamboo T-Shirt was made in a Fair Wear Foundation Audited factory, embroided and hand-finished in the UK.

About our Leaf Classic T Shirt
Our Bamboo products are made from a blend of 70% Bamboo viscouse, 30% Organic cotton. The bamboo is grown and processed in China, then shipped to the factory in Izmir, Turkey. The Organic cotton is grown in the Aegean - the area around Izmir - and transported to a local ginning factory by truck. The ginned cotton is then blended and spun into jersey fabric with the bamboo viscouse, then cut and sewn. This factory is audited by Fair Wear Foundation and gets a share of its energy from a Photovoltaic solar array on the roof.
Garments are shipped from Izmir to Trieste, then trucked by high capacity lorry to London. They are then trucked to Plymouth where the design is applied and hand finished with trims, and labels made locally. The finished product is shipped to, and dispatched from, Rapanui HQ on the Isle of Wight.
Award-Winning Traceability
It is impossible to make an ethical choice if you don’t know where clothing comes from and how it is made. Very few people do these days, even high-street stores themselves. At Rapanui you can investigate the whole supply chain and find out the details about where this item was made, who made it, and how it got here, from Seed to shop. It is called traceability.
