Base Jumping World Champion

Category: Ambassadors

Meet Rapanui Ambassador Dan Witchalls - Extreme Base Jump world champion, star of Channel 4's Men Who Jump off Buildings and Rapanui's secret product tester.

The development of Rapanui is all about creating new, inspiring products, designs and ideas. To be sustainable we have to challenge the norm, even if that means taking massive risks - like speaking out for an industry that needs reform, or switching over to experimental eco fabrics like our new Euacalyptus tops. It's a leap of faith.

Behind the scenes we have a handful of close friends out there taking a similar attitude but in their own way: We look out for them, they wear our stuff and give us feedback, ideas and inspiration. Call them ambassadors, friends, product testers, whatever - we call them our wolfpack, and Dan is in the thick of it.

You might remember him as the man from Channel 4's 'Men who jump off buildings' documentary. He's a roofer by day, and by night he jumps off them. He's been base jumping London at night for years and has racked up most buildings in the city - Wembely stadium included - and we're pretty stoked that a Rapanui t-shirt or two is going with him during these antics.

As almost a year has gone by since we first met up and we think it's time we broke cover and introduced the man behind the scenes, who's putting our clothing through it's paces. To make sure our products last, we've been climbing buildings in the middle of the night and sneaking round secutiry in London trying to keep up with this wildman - (not too bad till the jump bit).

"Everybody dies, but not everyone lives" - That's Dan's motto. We decided on day one that we want to make clothes that are designed for living in - if this man can't fault them, they're good enough for anyone.

Look out for more from Dan on the Rapanui blog.
